CoderDojo Coolest Projects Awards 2015 in Dublin
On the 13th June, the RDS in Dublin turned into a showcase for more than 500 projects presented by CoderDojo Ninjas from all over the world.
With CoderDojo, young people can make their most exciting ideas a reality, whether it is to build a website, a digital game, or even build a robot.
Ninjas from all over Ireland and some from overseas arrived at the RDS Dublin bright and breezy as the queues formed outside till doors opened at 10am.
The energy in the halls of the RDS was buzzing with excitement, kids and teens setting up their stands proudly wearing their coolest projects t-shirt getting their projects ready for showcase as the judges began their tours around each of the 500 entries.
The confidence from kids as young as 7 blew me away. Alexi from the Cork City Dojo to Matthew from West Cork not to mention the team of Ninjas from Glanmire buzzed around their stands with great pride. The visible teamwork between Ninjas of all ages- 7 to 13 was impressive.
DesignerDojo originated in Cork City, headed up by Paul Lee Creativity Evangelist and the Ninjas from Kinsale- brothers Shane and Dylan gave a super performance. Aaron, another of the Cork Ninjas showed off his impressive Scratch game inventing skills.
There were 7 prizes for the “Original” category- These were distributed by proud sponsors Intel, Microsoft, Zendesk, UPC, and Salesforce to winning Dojos in Cork, Tipperary, Dublin, Belgium, and Waterford.
Other categories were “Scratch 1” and “Scratch 2”, Website, Games and WebGames, Mobile, Hardware and Evolution.
Special Prize Winners went to Dojos in Dundalk, Dublin, Galway, Belgium and Monaghan for Coolest Projects in Enterprise, Design, Use of Microsoft Technologies, International, Team and Social Impact.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s Coolest Projects : )
